Over a year ago, I shared a post about where the hottest New York City tech companies were leasing their offices. Well, it has been a year, so we created an updated map at TheSquareFoot.
What you will notice is that many companies have started moving to Chelsea, Garment District, and closer to Midtown. Why? Prices in Chelsea are not quite as ridiculous as those in Soho -- $55 and $67 per square foot respectively.
Almost as important is easy access to public transport, especially when a startup begins to grow and has employees coming from all over (Brooklyn, New Jersey, Long Island, Harlem, Upper West, etc.). It is just not nearly as easy to get to Soho as it is Herald Square or Times Square.
Which company's location most surprises you?
