"When I worked at NASA, I brought together global leaders to predict the future of our planet based on geo-spacial data that has been collected from around the world," said Kevin Montgomery, Ph.D., now a Senior Researcher at Stanford.
"We predicted 284 different scenarios for our planet."
"How many of them are positive and sustainable?" I asked, cringing as I awaiting a disastrous response. "Four," he replied, "Oh, and two of the four are very positive."
Unlike most people who, upon hearing these statistics, expressed dismayed, I cheered, "That's fantastic! That means if we collectively focus our attention on what it takes to achieve one of those two scenarios, we know that a positive outcome is possible!"
"So, Kevin," I asked, "what is it going to take to secure this planet a very positive future?"
He smiled. "That's precisely the question we tackled as a group. One of the most important efforts will be meta-collaboration. There are a lot of people doing great things to forward our planet's future. However, we have to bring them together and resource them with higher level information so they can create more substantial impact."
"That's why I created Collaborate.org with the support and contributions from global leaders and others," he continued. "They understand the critical importance of enabling and empowering planet-sustaining work - now."
So here it is: Collaborate.org is a multi-digital platform that supports an open, global, online community, working together and sharing resources, expertise and enthusiasm.
And, oh, by the way, I later learned that being part of this community (entry fee is nominal) provides free access to over 2.5 million layers of geo-spacial data that Kevin and these leaders pooled together. It is open source for anyone! Collaborate.org also crawls the web for you to provide the most recent blogs, feeds, and immediate social media posts related to your company's mission.
I asked Kevin to speak with us at the Conscious Business Network (CBN) in Chicago on January 28th. "Good timing," he replied after accepting. "We go live just after the meeting!" Having said that, there are about 20,000 current users already test driving it, and Collaborate.org won the prestigious Gold Edison Award for 2015, for the best in innovation and excellence in the development of new products and services....IN BETA! The CBN is using Collaborate.org technology to broadcast to non-Chicago residents.
I am inspired at the possibilities. At the same time, I believe our next challenge is this: how do we balance our local need for proprietary boundaries with our planetary need to meta-collaborate? Stay tuned...
